E-Learning Platform Development

Online Education Provider

An education startup had course content and an audience but was running on off-the-shelf tools that could not support the interactive, structured learning experience it wanted to sell. Bricksense built a purpose-made platform for video courses at scale.

The Challenge

Stitched-together tools meant a disjointed student experience, no reliable progress tracking, and video hosting costs that scaled badly. Instructors had no real way to manage cohorts or see how learners were doing.

The platform needed to handle large concurrent video audiences, quizzes and assignments, certificates, and subscription billing — reliably enough to charge for.

Our Approach

1

Learning experience design

Course structure, lesson pacing, and assessment patterns designed with instructors before build.

2

Adaptive video delivery

Adaptive-bitrate streaming through a CDN, with transcoding on upload and resumable playback.

3

Progress & assessment engine

Per-lesson completion, quiz scoring, assignment submission, and automated certificates.

4

Instructor tools

Dashboards for cohort management, engagement analytics, and content updates without engineering help.

The Solution

Students move through structured courses with their progress saved everywhere, interactive checkpoints, and certificates on completion. Playback holds up whether 50 or 5,000 people are watching.

Instructors publish and update content themselves and can see exactly where learners drop off, so courses improve over time.

What We Delivered

  • Custom LMS with a structured course builder
  • Adaptive-bitrate video pipeline with CDN delivery
  • Assessment engine: quizzes, assignments, certificates
  • Subscription and one-off payment handling
  • Instructor analytics and cohort management dashboards

The Results

The platform now supports more than 25,000 active students across 150+ courses, with a completion rate of 78% — well above the industry norm for self-paced online learning.

Predictable video costs and subscription billing took monthly revenue to $420K within the year, on infrastructure that no longer strains under peak load.

Our students actually finish courses now. The platform does what three separate tools used to do badly, and our costs are predictable.
